Famed for its Byzantine 6th century Mosaics, perhaps the most impressive of these is an enormous 6th-century map of Palestine and Egypt that is located in St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church. Drive to the ancient Rose City of Petra. You can stop en route to visit the impressive crusader castle of Karak. The UNESCO World Heritage site of Petra is the jewel in Jordan’s archaeological crown and you have two days to discover all of its hidden gems. The entrance to the city is through a narrow and deep winding trail-like fissure in the rocks known as the Siq. The rocks give way to reveal the most awesome sight, that of the famous facade of the Kazneh - the Treasury of Petra . Explore the ancient Nabatean tombs and the Roman rockcarved streets lined with temples, royal tombs, staircases, arched gates, and public buildings. If you are feeling intrepid, ascend the numerous steep steps to Ad Deir, better known as the monastery, the views from the top are spectacular. (Guided sightseeing is highly recommended and can be arranged upon request).
